Want to stray from the traditional wedding music? You are not alone.  About half of our brides pick songs you might not expect.  Here is a list of less traditional song real brides have used in their weddings.

Nontraditional Wedding Music From Real Weddings

For over a hundred years songs like "Here Comes the Bride" and Cannon in D have been used for weddings.  Over the last few years, as all things do, weddings have begun to evolve.  About half of the brides we talk to want to stray away from the traditional songs and make their wedding uniquely their own.  Most of these brides think they are alone but the truth is the uncommon is becoming the norm.  Check out these songs real brides have asked us to play at their wedding.

Prelude Songs
- The Way I Am - Ingrid Michaelson
- Fix You - Coldplay
- Dave Matthews Band - Crash Into You
- The First day Of My Life - Bright Eyes
- Near You Always - Jewel
- If My Heart Was A House - Owl City
- I'm Yours - Jason Mraz
- Come Away With Me - Nora Jones

Processional Songs
- Lullaby - Dixie Chicks (without lyrics)

Bridal March Songs
- Somewhere over the Rainbow - Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwoʻole

Recessional Songs
- White Wedding - Billy Idol
- I gotta feeling - Black Eyed Peas
- Everything - Michael Buble
-Hey Ya - Outkast Acoustic version by Obadiah Parker
I am using this song for my own wedding next year and it was also used on the show Scrubs when the Janitor got married. They did not use the Obadiah Parker version on Scrubs. Oh P.S. Scrubs is Rob's favorite show ever!

I gotta feeling was probably the best of any recessional song we have ever played. It was the perfect transition from the ceremony to the reception.

Father and Bride Dance Songs

(A DJ Rob Entertainment custom mix for a client)

First Dance Songs
-Jack Rabbit Slims Twist Contest - from Pulp Fiction Soundtrack
- Sheena Is A Punk Rocker - The Ramones

Last Dance Songs
- A Whole New World From Aladdin

Introduction / Entrance Songs
- A Beautiful Mine - the Mad Men theme by RJD2
- I'm Too Sexy - Right Said Fred
- The Imperial March (Darth Vader's Theme)
- Concerning Hobbits form Lord of the Rings
- It's the End of The Word - R.E.M
At first I thought the Darth Vader song was kinda nerdy but it actually worked really well.  The groom (Joe) in the wedding that we played R.E.M. called me a few days before the wedding and asked me to play this song. It was an inside joke between his buddies, his new wife and him. They had a lot of fun with it and the bride had no idea.

Cake Cutting Songs

- Magic Works -The Weird Sisters from Harry Potter

Bouquet Toss Songs
- Single  Ladies Put A Ring On It Beyonce
(95% of our brides pick this song)
Garter Toss Songs
- Hang Me Up to Dry - Cold War Kids
- Super Mario Brothers Theme Song
- Fox NFL Football Theme Song
- Shook me all night long by AC/DC
- Drop It Like Its Hot- Snoop Dogg & Pharrell
I think these are always the most fun. Super Mario Bros was the best. The groom did a robot type dance and acted like he was in a video game.
